The options for Aaliyah Chavez's commitment got shorter Tuesday.

The Monterey girls basketball standout narrowed her potential landing spots to six colleges, Chavez announced on social media.

Hometown Texas Tech is still in the mix, as is Oklahoma, LSU, Texas, UCLA and reigning national-champion South Carolina.

This is the first announcement about her recruitment since releasing a top 10 last October. Those since eliminated include Arizona, Ohio State, Southern California and Tennessee.

Chavez, a 5-foot-11 guard, is the No. 1-ranked recruit in the 2025 class, per ESPN's top 100. She averaged 37.8 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 3.5 steals and 0.9 blocks as a junior last season.

She was named to the Naismith girls high school all-America first team and received Gatorade Texas Player of the Year in the spring. Chavez, a three-time Lubbock Avalanche-Journal player of the year, also earned player of the year by the Texas Girls Coaches Association last season.
