    Lubbock high school football: Top 5 defensive linemen in the area entering 2024

    We highlight the big disrupters up front with this look at the top defensive linemen in Lubbock and the South Plains. Players are listed in alphabetical order.

    Baron Bass, Sr., New Home

    The Leopards' leader on the line made the all-district first team in 2023.

    Javion Ramon, Jr., Trinity Christian

    Ramon tallied 63 tackles, including four for a loss, two sacks and a blocked-punt touchdown.

    Victor Saenz, Jr., Ropes

    Saenz recorded 93 tackles (23 solo), including 25 for a loss and three sacks. He also had seven quarterback hurries, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.

    Jakson Sewell, Sr., Lubbock-Cooper

    Sewell, a first-team all-district selection, notched 61½ tackles, including 11½ for a loss. He recorded five sacks and nine quarterback hurries.

    Sione Vaea, Jr., Lubbock-Cooper

    Vaea, the district newcomer of the year, notched 90 tackles (21 solo), including seven for a loss, eight sacks and six hurries.
