Lucasville man arrested on six counts of rape, wife arrested for lying to deputies

LUCASVILLE, Ohio ( WCMH ) — A Lucasville man indicted on rape charges was arrested by authorities Friday along with his wife after she allegedly lied to deputies.

According to the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office, 81-year-old Ezra Wright was indicted on six counts of rape of a child. Deputies on Friday went to his home on Eckhart Road and Wright’s wife, 80-year-old Carolyn, answered the door and told authorities her husband went fishing and was not home.

Deputies searched the area for Ezra when they saw all vehicles registered to the couple remained in the house’s driveway. As they surveilled the area, detectives and deputies saw a van leave the house, prompting a traffic stop. Two people were inside the van and told authorities Ezra was inside the house and that Carolyn was lying.

Law enforcement then knocked on the door of the house for several minutes, per the sheriff’s office. With authorities believing the couple could inflict harm on themselves, they entered the home and found the Wrights hiding in a bedroom unharmed. Both were arrested.

Ezra Wright is being held without bond on six counts of rape while Carolyn Wright has been charged with obstructing justice. Carolyn received a $10,000 bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Monday.
