Our family went on a 7-hour road trip to Anaheim to visit Disneyland and Knottsberry Farm. It was our first time visiting these places and the kids were really excited. We packed everything we needed for the trip.

Before the trip, we searched for hotels and timeshares that were in convenient locations near restaurants, shopping, and especially Knottsberry Farm and Disneyland.

    Anaheim, California

Anaheim is a lively city located in Orange County, California, in Southern California. The city is a popular destination for tourists coming from different parts of the globe, and the major attraction is the Disneyland Resort, famously branded as the "happiest place on Earth." The resort encompasses two parks, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, making it an ideal vacation destination for children. There are many enjoyable activities for kids to enjoy at this magical place.

There are many things to do and see in Anaheim, including various districts and shopping centers that take advantage of the city's great weather. Outdoor dining and entertainment options are plentiful at places like Anaheim Gardenwalk and Anaheim Packing District, which offer a variety of menus and showcase the local community vibe.

    Peacock Suites Resorts

The Peacock Suites Resorts is located a short walking distance from various attractions including Disneyland, the Anaheim Convention Center, Angel Stadium, and The Shops at Garden Walk.

    Shops at Garden Walk

The fact that the Shops at Garden Walk was just a 5-minute walk away saved us during our trip. We had 4 dinners there, and thanks to the proximity, we were able to get really nice takeout meals from restaurants without having to drive or use a rideshare service.

We opted for takeout instead of cooking because we wanted to eat something specific rather than settling for nearby options around the resort.

Our room was a spacious suite that had a living room area with a queen sleeper sofa, a large table, a mini kitchen equipped with a microwave, sink, fridge and a flat-screen TV. Another TV was located in the main bedroom, which was separated by elegant French sliding doors. We were pleased to find complimentary Wi-Fi, which was helpful for when I needed to work on my computer.

It was a pleasant experience to gather together with my family and have a meal on the dining room table using plates and silverware. The room was well-equipped and provided all the necessary amenities for comfort. In addition, we stocked the refrigerator with drinks and snacks, which not only saved us money but also made our lives more convenient.

You can use valet parking for $11 per day along with in and out privileges. Self-parking is not allowed.

The Activity Center at the Peacock Suites Resorts

Do you have a game room? Ours saved us as it is filled with various activities for kids such as pool table, Foosball, and hockey table which can keep them occupied for a long time. It seems unlikely for these items to be present in a regular household.

To get started, simply proceed to the front desk. While the kids are playing, parents can unwind and enjoy TV shows or movies.

The hotel has a relaxation area on the rooftop which includes a BBQ, chairs, and lounge chairs. You can use this area to take a break and temporarily leave your family in the hotel room while you explore the hotel or take pictures.

The pool is a wonderful spot to unwind, even with your kids around. Despite the kids enjoying the pool, you can still have a relaxing time with a book or lunch while seated in an area with a flat-screen TV. Additionally, there is a Jacuzzi to dip in. It's worth noting that certain amenities or activities may require an extra fee and are seasonal.

    Disneyland

On July 17, 1955, Walt Disney openedDisney, the first Disney theme park. Today, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is one of the nine themed lands, but classic rides from your childhood like Dumbo and It's a Small World are still available at Disneyland, known as "The Happiest Place on Earth."

We took the Shuttle Bus to Disneyland from and spent the whole day there. But if you have your own car, it’s an 8-minute drive from the Peacock Suites Resorts.

Another option for obtaining Disney tickets is to visit the resort's concierge.

We saw Woody and went on the rides with the kids. To avoid waiting in lines, we quickly got a fast pass for our favorite rides. Planning ahead makes it easy to get around Disneyland.

Packing snacks and water containers can help make it less overwhelming.

    Disney’s Downtown Disney District

The Downtown Disney District is an open-air shopping and entertainment area close to Disneyland Resort theme parks. Along with Disney merchandise, it offers stores from other well-known brands like Sephora, and restaurants not affiliated with Disney such as San Diego's Ballast Point. You can also enjoy a game of bowling at Splitsville Luxury Lanes. It's a perfect family hangout spot with numerous entertainment options.

In addition, it is worth mentioning that the hotels of the Disneyland Resort are conveniently located just a few steps away from Downtown Disney. In fact, you can enter the complex through the entrance located beside Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

The Golden Horseshoe appeared to be a fancy restaurant, but it's actually a self-serve eatery where we enjoyed a peaceful lunch. They serve burgers, tacos, ice cream sundaes, and have a complete menu.

In addition, they provide live entertainment which made it a great experience. The waiting time was manageable as there were ample seating arrangements. Unlike our earlier experiences where we wandered around hungry, we were able to sit down and enjoy our lunch as soon as we walked in.

    Orange, California

During our trip to California, we explored outside the hotel and stumbled upon a charming town called Orange. In this town, we discovered a delightful French Bakery that had the most delicious treats. Additionally, Orange was filled with charming shops and historic houses.

Although I would have liked to spend a whole day there, we only had enough time to quickly grab our croissants. We ended up getting them for three days in a row and even brought some back to Phoenix. (lol)

I have never had almond croissants as good as these ones before.

    Huntington Beach

We went to Huntington Beach to reminisce about the fun we had at the beach in Florida. It was important to us to spend some time at the beach.

We noticed a group of surfers heading out to the sea and observed that the beaches in California are distinct from the beaches in Florida.

The children enjoyed searching for seashells and the atmosphere was very pleasant.

Wahoo’s Fish TacoDuring our outing, we ate at Wahoo’s Fish Taco which is located on Main Street.

The menu is excellent and all the food is very fresh, but be prepared to wait in line due to the busy environment.

    Surf Museum

You can check out the Surf Museum on Olive Ave in Huntington Beach for other activities. The admission fee is $3, but you can also opt to get a membership there.

    Knottsberry Farm

Peacock Suites Resorts is located just a 15-minute drive away from the famous western-style family theme park, Knott's Berry Farm.

At Knottsberry Farm, there is a lot of historical information to discover.

We had a fun time at Knottsberry Farm, walking around and enjoying the attractions. The ICEE drinks were a hit with the kids, and we all enjoyed the famous fried chicken for our lunch. The farm offers roller coasters and stage shows, and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly about the history of the farm.

Additionally, you can visit Camp Snoopy, which showcases Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang. During my previous visit 40 years ago, I don't recall Camp Snoopy being present. However, Knott's Berry Farm theme park has expanded, and now encompasses Knott's Soak City Waterpark and Knott's Berry Farm Hotel.

    Honda Center

The Honda Center, located across from Angel Stadium, is where you can watch the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League if you're a fan of ice hockey. Aside from hockey, this versatile indoor arena also hosts football games, live concerts, and other sports events.

The City National Grove of Anaheim

The City National Grove in Anaheim is a well-known spot to visit. It is a compact indoor venue for live music events, with a limit of 1,700 attendees. The building formerly hosted Tinseltown, a restaurant with an awards ceremony theme, but it was shut down. The space was then repurposed as a music venue.

    Anaheim Brewery

If you're a fan of craft beer, be sure to add Anaheim Brewery to your vacation itinerary. It's a brewery from the pre-Prohibition era that has been restored and revitalized. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual, making it a great place to spend time with friends.

Our trip to California was amazing! Thanks to Peacock Suites Resorts, our visit to Disneyland and Knottsberry Farm was hassle-free. The resort's Activity Center and proximity to the Shops at Garden Walk added to the overall convenience and made the trip a success.

Considering all our needs, we found that Peacock Suites Resorts was the perfect option for us. The resort offers fantastic amenities such as lazy rivers, family activities, and miniature golf, among others. Furthermore, the majority of the resort suites come with full kitchens, washers/dryers, private bedrooms, and separate living/dining areas to make traveling more enjoyable and less stressful.
