BEAVER TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A local man is facing charges for allegedly assaulting a woman in Beaver Township and preventing her from calling the police. Court records indicate Clarion-based State Police filed criminal charges against 31-year-old Collin David Polka, of Templeton, in District Judge Jarah Lee Heeter’s office on Friday, July 12.

Hearing Continued for Franklin Man Accused of Selling Crack Cocaine to Undercover Agents
FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — A hearing was rescheduled for a local man who allegedly sold crack cocaine out of his Franklin residence for several months. Court documents indicate a preliminary hearing scheduled Wednesday, July 17, for 48-year-old Shaundel David Young, of Franklin, was continued and will resume on Monday, July 29, in Venango County Central Court.
Franklin General Authority gets $3.1M EPA grant
The Franklin General Authority has been awarded a $3,182,000 grant from the Environmental Protection Agency’s sewer overflow and stormwater reuse municipal grant program. The EPA said the money will help fund the upcoming A-108 combined sewer overflow remediation project, which will rehabilitate or replace 55,000 feet of the combined sanitary sewer system in the City of Franklin, separating the stormwater and sanitary sewer systems.
Conservancy river sojourn planned Aug. 2
The Allegheny Valley Conservancy will host its annual Allegheny River Sojourn on Friday, Aug. 2, starting at 9:30 a.m. at the SaltBox Visitor Center in Franklin. Participants need to bring a kayak or canoe and a life jacket. The event includes a float to Fisherman’s Cove, a shuttle back, and a presentation on the Allegheny River’s value. Registration, due by July 26, costs $40 and includes a shuttle and refreshments at TrAils to Ales II. Kayak rentals are available through OARS. Register at avc-pa.org or by mail.
