Two Berkshire Peaker Plants Have Been Put in the Past
LEE, Mass. — Two peaker plants in Berkshire County have been out of service for two years and are in the process of demolition. Local environmentalists are rejoicing. "It's phenomenal," said Rosemary Wessel of the Berkshire Environmental Action Team. "To actually see the physical proof of a peaker plant not just shut down but removed is just more than we really expected and it's really great."

Greenfield Public Library offering free access to legal resources
GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Greenfield Public Library recently celebrated one year since their grand opening in the new building and the community resources continue to grow with a legal kiosk offering free access to legal information and records, applications for free legal help, and completing forms for court. The kiosk was provided by the Western New England University School of Law’s Center for Social Justice who have installed several legal kiosks in community sites around the region.

Toll free: Troopers help rescue grazing horse at side of Mass. Pike in Charlton
CHARLTON — A horse that wandered to the edge of the Massachusetts Turnpike Monday morning, drawing a double-take from passing motorists, has been returned to its owner. Alzheimer’s Drug Offers Hope for Early-Stage Patients
UConn Health is now offering the drug lecanemab to patients with mild signs of dementia. In clinical trials it was shown to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s. The memory assessment team at the UConn Center on Aging consists of multidisciplinary experts who monitor and guide patients through the treatment process. The drug may not be a cure for Alzheimer’s but for patients like Eric Jackson, it offers the chance to remain independent longer.
Andover man arrested for stealing items from Lowe's
SOUTH WINDSOR, CT (WFSB) — An Andover man has been arrested in connection with a theft at a local Lowe’s store. On June 1, 2024, Greyson Meikle, 30, was taken into custody for stealing merchandise valued at $695.16 from the Lowe’s located at 31 Buckland Hills Drive in South Windsor.
