Missing Fisherman Recoved By SCDNR
A fisherman went missing on Thursday evening on the Wateree River, right below the Lake Wateree Dam. First Responders and divers searched for the fisherman for several hours Thursday evening, but had to call off the search before 11pm due to darkness. The search resumed on Friday morning and shortly there after SCDNR discovered the fisherman deceased. According to KC Coroner David West, 38 Antonio Hernandez was found on Friday morning. An autopsy is set for Monday.

Ridgeway man catches success hosting fishing tourneys
RIDGEWAY – When Brett Collins started running bass fishing tournaments back in 1997, he says it was just something he did for fun. The tournaments then usually just included a group of other Lake Wateree fishermen. He says he never expected it to grow the way it has in the 27 years since.

GRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN — Adriane Wilson finished first in four of the seven women’s heavy athletic events during the 2024 Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, thereby claiming the top spot overall for the competition. This is a repeat win for Wilson, who took first place at these games in 2023 and was the runner-up in 2022. The 44-year-old personal trainer who resides in Columbia, S.C., has been competing in heavy athletics for over 15 years. Wilson has also coached adaptive sport for wounded soldiers.
