HAHNVILLE – Parish President Matthew Jewell, St. Charles Parish officials, The Paul Maillard Business and Arts Initiative, and members of Pacers Fitness gathered recently to unveil a new mural at the West Bank Trailhead, situated across from the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling.

The mural showcases how residents take part in recreation along the Mississippi River.

“This mural beautifully reflects how the Mississippi River Path is an integral part of our parish’s recreational hub in Luling,” said Parish President Matthew Jewell. “Through creative partnerships of our local organizations and the generosity of donors, our public space is more beautiful, and we look forward to residents and visitors enjoying it for years to come.”

Local artist Kerry Allen painted the mural in panels, then sealed and installed it on the back of the restroom building at the Trailhead. The Paul Maillard Business and Arts Initiative coordinated and funded this project, along with a donation from Pacers Fitness and a grant received through The Red Dress Run Organization.

“We’re thrilled to see this vision with so much meaning come to life in St. Charles Parish,” said Jenny Lendle, president of the Paul Maillard Business and Arts Initiative. “We hope to complete more public beautification projects in our community within the next year.”

“The path atop the levee is well-loved by residents of St. Charles Parish and provides many opportunities for folks to walk, run, bike, and get outdoors,” added Sandy Johnson, president of the Pacers Fitness group. “Our organization fosters community through fitness, and we can’t wait to see the mural when we gather at the Trailhead each week.”
