HARDIN COUNTY — Several agencies are investigating the possible drowning of a teen in Village Creek.

The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a possible drowning shortly after 2 p.m. Monday.

The location was said to be in Village Creek near the U.S. 90 just north of Lumberton.

Texas Parks and Wildlife department Game Wardens, National Park Service Rangers, Silsbee Fire Department, Hardin County Sheriff’s Deputies and other first responders arrived on scene by boat to begin the search, according to TPWD Captain Ryan L. Hall.

Initial reports are that a 17 year-old male was swimming with friends when he went under and never resurfaced.  Responders are working to verify this information through witnesses.
