Police Say Woman Conned a Local Giant Out of $1,000 in Activated Gift Cards
NEW BRITAIN TOWNSHIP, PA—Police are looking for a woman they say conned supermarket employees out of $1,000 of gift cards and then fled the store. The incident happened in the early evening hours of Saturday, July 20, at the New Britain Township Giant at County Line Road and West Butler Avenue. A woman took gift cards to a cash register to activate and pay for them.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER Police said that the woman then “manipulated” the store’s cashier and manager into giving her a refund for the cards but without deactivating them. The woman then walked out of the store with about $1,000 of activated gift cards. Police also said that the women left the store without paying for the items in her shopping cart.
