    Lutcher man receives award for ‘tireless’ commitment to fitness at 72

    LUTCHER, La. ( WGNO ) — A 72-year-old Lutcher man has been recognized as SilverSneakers’ 2024 Member of the Year for his “unwavering” dedication to health and fitness.

    According to SilverSneakers, Grayling “Beaver” Brown “embodies the spirit of resilience and positivity,” despite having his own limitations.

    SilverSneakers awards the “Member of the Year” title to people who have a “tireless commitment to nurturing a healthy lifestyle and building a supportive network of like-minded peers.”

    Brown, a Vietnam War veteran, sees fitness as a “crucial” activity that helps with his mental, physical and emotional wellbeing. From working out at Anytime Fitness to yoga classes, Brown found a way to be committed to the fitness community.
