    Construction scheduled this week for north central Pa.

    The following is a round-up of current PennDOT road work and construction projects in northcentral Pa.:

    Lycoming County

    A two-year roadway project continues along Interstate 180 eastbound and westbound in Montoursville Borough, and Loyalsock, Fairfield, and Muncy townships.

    On Monday, July 29, between the hours of 5 a.m. and 2 p.m., the contractor and subcontractors will be installing reflective traffic control markings on I-180 westbound. Drivers can expect a right (driving) lane closure from the bridge over Loyalsock Creek to just west of the Lycoming Mall interchange.

    Other work next week will be performed off the shoulders of the roadway and on the on and off ramps at Fairfield Road and the ramp from Broad Street (Route 2014) westbound to Interstate 180 westbound. Drivers can expect daily shoulder closures throughout these locations while work in being completed.

    Testing of the newly installed highway lighting will be performed off the shoulders during the hours of 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Monday, July 29, through Thursday, Aug. 1, weather permitting.

    Glenn O. Hawbaker is the prime contractor for this $11.4 million highway resurfacing project. Work in 2023 included mill and resurface of over 13 miles of roadway including entrance and exit ramps at Route 87 and the Fairfield Road interchanges, pavement marking, and epoxy of bridges throughout the work zone. Work in 2024 includes new lighting, guide rail upgrades, and signage. Work on this project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2024.

    Resurfacing Routes 44 and 3003

    A roadway and bridge replacement project continues on Main Street (Route 44) and Main Street/River Road (Route 3003) in both directions in Jersey Shore Borough and Porter, Piatt, and Nippenose townships.

    The week of Monday, July 29, the contractor will complete closure pours on the inlet and outlet sections of the concrete box culvert that was set last week and begin backfilling the excavated area around the culvert. Work will take place during daylight hours.

    Long-Term Closure

    Route 44 (North Main Street) is closed in both directions at the Jersey Shore Borough / Piatt Township line, while the contractor replaces the bridge that carries North Main Street over Lawshe Run.A detour using Route 220, Route 3027 (Thomas Street), and Allegheny Street, will be in place for the duration of the bridge replacement. The detour is anticipated to be in place until Friday, September 20, weather permitting.

    HRI is the prime contractor for this $4.9 million roadway resurfacing project. Work on this project includes mill and resurface of approximately one mile of roadway on Routes 44 and 3003, including a portion of the on and off ramps of Route 220 at Main Street, guide rail upgrades, drainage upgrades, sewer line relocation, ADA curb ramps, and pavement markings. Additional work on this project includes bridge replacement, bridge deck repairs, neoprene strip seal glad replacement and epoxy overlay. These bridges span over Lawshe Run, Route 220, and the Susquehanna River. Work on this project is expected to be completed in late October.

    Resurfacing on Route 87

    A milling and resurfacing project continues on Route 87 in Montoursville Borough, Fairfield Township, Upper Fairfield Township and Plunketts Creek Township.

    The week of Monday, July 29, the contractor will continue resurfacing operations along Route 87 between the Interstate 180 overpass in Montoursville Borough and north to Pier 87 Bar and Grill in Plunketts Creek Township.

    Drivers can expect single lane conditions with flagging where work is being performed. Work on Route 87, will be performed between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

    Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc., is the prime contractor for this $2.6 million resurfacing project. Work includes milling and resurfacing of the roadway, base repairs, drainage work, guide rail and sign upgrades. The project is anticipated to be completed in the fall.

    Route 44 embankment stabilization project

    A two-year embankment stabilization project continues on Route 44 between Route 973 and Waterville in Cummings Township and between Route 220 and Torbert Lane in Watson Township.

    On Wednesday, July 31, and Thursday, Aug. 1, the contractor will begin patchwork. Work will be performed between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The week of Monday, Aug. 5, the contractor will begin guide rail removal in preparation for milling and resurfacing. Work will be performed between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. The week of Monday, Aug. 12, through Friday, Aug. 23, the contractor will perform milling, resurfacing, and shoulder back up. Work will be performed during daylight hours. The week of Monday, Monday, Aug. 26, the contractor will install the new guide rail throughout the newly resurfaced area. Work will be performed between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

    Drivers should expect single lane conditions with flagging where work is being performed.

    Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc., is the prime contractor for this $9.3 million embankment stabilization project administered through a partnership between EQT Production Company and PennDOT. Work includes stabilization of 18 embankment areas using a combination of geosynthetic reinforced soil, soil nailing, and soldier pile and lagging walls. Additional work includes paving, line painting, and guide rail upgrades. Traffic will be maintained using single lane with a combination of temporary traffic signals and flagging where work is being performed. Motorists should expect traffic delays and wait times where work is being performed. Work is anticipated to be completed by the summer of 2025.     Bradford County

    A four-year reconstruction project continues next week on Route 199 in Sayre and Athens. The 2.6-mile project is located .44 miles north of the intersection with Route 1056 (Front Street) in Athens Borough to the intersection with Interstate 17 (Southern Tier Expressway) at the New York state line in Sayre Borough. The project begins at the New York state line and works south.

    The week of Monday, July 29, contractor will continue work on the full-depth reconstruction project on Main Street (Route 199) southbound between Spruce Street and Cooper Street. Work includes new pavement, drainage improvements, utility relocations, sidewalk and curb improvements, ADA curb ramp installations, traffic signal upgrades, driveway adjustments, signing and pavement markings and other miscellaneous construction.

    Final paving course for both north and south bound lanes on Route 199 between Spruce Street and Vanderbilt Street will be placed after reconstruction of the southbound lane between Spruce Street and Cooper Street has been completed.

    Detour information:

    Northbound cars will continue to follow a .78 mile detour using Walnut Street, N. River Steet, and E. Orchard Street. Southbound cars will continue to be maintained in the work zone.Truck traffic will follow a 7.7-mile detour using Route 220 and Interstate 17 (Southern Tier Expressway).

    Kriger Construction is the prime contractor on this $16.4 million, four-year roadway reconstruction project. The project is expected to be completed in the Fall of 2024.

    Tioga County

    A two-year roadway improvement project continues on Water Street (Route 414), Blockhouse Road (Route 2005), and Williamson Road (Route 2007) in Liberty Borough and Liberty Township.

    The week of July 29, the contractor will continue stream relocation on High Street (Route 414) between the intersection of Blockhouse Road and the North Penn Liberty High School. Drivers can expect single lane conditions with flagging. Work continues with utility relocations, cross pipe replacements, and drainage work in relation to the to replace the 84-inch culvert on Route 414.

    Long-Term Closure

    Water Street is closed in both directions between Shaffer Hill Road and just south of Bloss Mountain Road.

    A detour using Route 15 and Bloss Mountain Road is in place.

    Glenn O. Hawbaker is the prime contractor for this two-year $6.2 million roadway improvement project. Work on this project includes drainage work on Route 414 (High Street/Water Street) and Blockhouse Road, roadway reconstruction, retaining wall, sidewalks, curbing, and resurfacing of 1.7 miles of Williamson Road. Work is expected to be complete in November of 2025, weather permitting. Motorists can expect a winter shut down between construction seasons.

    Clinton County

    The following maintenance projects will take place the week of July 29:

    Pipe Replacing & Cleaning

    Route 2002 (Narrows Road) between Route 64 and Route 880 (Valley Road). Monday, July 29, through Friday, Aug. 2. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours.Route 2022 (Sugar Run Road) between Masden Hollow Road in Beech Creek Township and Route 120 in Lock Haven. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours.

    Shoulder Maintenance

    Interstate 80 between the Centre-Clinton County line and Exit 185. Monday, July 29, through Friday, Aug. 2. PennDOT will implement short-term lane closures while completing this work.

    Northumberland County

    A water main project begins this week on Industrial Park Road (Route 1022) in Milton Borough and West Chillisquaque Township.

    Starting on Monday, July 29, drivers traveling on Industrial Road between Sodom Road in Milton Borough and the Route 147 southbound ramps in West Chillisquaque, can expect single lane conditions with flagging, while the contractor, Kinsley Construction, begins work on a water main. Work will be performed Mondays through Fridays between the hours of 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Work on the project is anticipated to be completed by the end of September.

    Union County

    A lane restriction will be in place this week on Route 15 southbound in East Buffalo Township for a tree clearing project.

    On Monday, July 29, through Thursday, August 1, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. the contractor, Dincher and Dincher Tree Surgeons, will be clearing dead trees, removing saplings, and vines along the Route 15 southbound Right-of-Way near Bucknell University. The contractor will be working between Curtin Avenue and the intersection with Smoketown Road and Moore Avenue. Drivers can expect the right (driving) lane to be restricted where work is being performed.

    Drivers should slow down and drive with caution through work zones. All work is weather dependent.
