Pinpoint Weather: After showers and storms, a hot weekend

ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) – There is a chance of showers and storms for the rest of the day into the evening. Most of the rainfall is expected in the Piedmont and east. Areas from Danville to Lynchburg may receive excessive rainfall resulting in urban and small stream flooding.

After today’s cooler highs in the 70s and 80s, this weekend will be much hotter with highs above normal in the 80s and 90s Saturday and 90s Sunday.

The weekend should be mostly dry with a slight chance of showers and storms on Saturday for Lynchburg and Danville.

There is some good news as far as the heat goes. It will be hot into the middle of next week but cooler and closer to normal by next weekend and beyond.

Rainfall is expected to be sparse for the coming week.
