LRC honors changing of the gavel
LUDLOW, Vt. – Members of the Ludlow Rotary Club (LRC) gathered at the summer home of member Tom Harris for their annual Changing of the Gavel and picnic. The summer picnic was highlighted by the introduction of the new LRC president, George Thomson, as he assumed that responsibility from Thomas Ray, the outgoing president of the club. At that time, Thomson honored Ray with a plaque for his leadership and guidance of the LRC for the past year. In addition to this ceremony, LRC members enjoyed the fun and camaraderie of each other offered by the lakefront site of the picnic.
Slingerlands man dies after Long Lake drowning
LONG LAKE, N.Y. (WRGB) — A Slingerlands man has died in what authorities said was a drowning incident on Long Lake. According to the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, witnesses stated that two men jumped off a dock, and that one man was missing. Deputies said the report came in at 10:02 p.m. Thursday.

Woman, dog injured in Essex, VT by attacking pit bulls
The Essex, Vermont Police are looking for two people in connection with an attack by a pair of pit bulls. The incident took place just before 12:00 noon Saturday between Pinecrest Drive and Market Place. Officers say two tannish-colored pit bulls that were reportedly off-leash bit an unnamed woman and her dog. The woman was taken to UVM Medical Center for treatment of several dog bites and what may have been a broken wrist. Her family sought their own treatment for a bite that the woman’s dog suffered.
