Long story short: The Lynn Babe Ruth 15/16-year-old All-Stars kept adding runs in a 7-1 win against Maine on Friday. It was the team’s first of three games in Augusta, Maine for Regionals.

Lynn was first to get on the board when a passed ball scored a run in the opening inning. A single by Gilbert Peralta (2 hits) extended the lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the second.

They weren’t done. Lynn kept on coming with two runs in the bottom of the third, thanks to RBI singles from Mark Walsh and Jake Peterson.

Speaking of Peterson, he earned the win on the mound. The right-hander gave up one hit and one run across six innings, striking out nine and walking five.

Brennan Malloy was solid in relief, tossing one inning of no-run ball. He surrendered zero hits, striking out two and walking none.

Devin Duval delivered at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and two runs. Jared Burke paced Lynn with two walks.

“Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks along with seven hits for the game,” said Lynn manager Sam Ohannesian.

Lynn plays against Vermont on Saturday with first pitch slated for 1 p.m.
