Husband killed, wife seriously injured when deer jumps onto trike near Colorado home

A husband was killed and his wife was seriously injured in Colorado when a deer leapt onto a moving three-wheeled trike-style motorcycle the two were traveling on in Boulder County, according to reporting from KDVR . The incident occurred roughly 12 miles from the couple's home in Lyons.

A GoFundMe has since been set up to raise funds for the family. According to the account of the incident included on that page, the incident took place on the evening of June 18 and involved Darren and Amber Strough. The couple's three daughters, along with other family members, were traveling in a vehicle behind the trike. The page also notes that when the deer "came out of nowhere" and struck the trike, it knocked the two off of the vehicle.

The two were reportedly traveling home from a family reunion at the time.
