Teagan Jones and Dani Lyons Help Pace Chargers Past Sayreville
SAYREVILLE, NJ - Spotswood High School's girls varsity soccer team shut out Sayreville War Memorial High School on Thursday. The Chargers defeated the Bombers 2-0. Teagan Jones gave Spotswood the lead 22 minutes into the first half when she buried a pass from sophomore Dani Lyons. Lyons made the score 2-0 in the second half when she scored on a breakaway at the 78-minute mark in the game. Breamma Amponsah made nine saves for the Bombers. Isabella Mele made seven saves to earn the shutout in goal for the Chargers. It was the sixth time this season the Chargers' defense turned in a clean scoresheet. Spotswood's victory over Sayreville improved the team's overall season record to 9-2. The Chargers return to the field on Saturday when the team hosts JP Stevens High School at the Spotswood High School Varsity Soccer Field. JP Stevens has an overall season record of 7-5.
