Brunch in Baton Rouge: Louie's Cafe

Baton Rouge has many good brunch spots. In this series, we'll work our way through all the restaurants in town that feature brunch menus.

Let's begin with Louie's Café on State Street near LSU.

Louie's Brunch Menu

It might not be huge, but Louie's brunch menu is delicious. The best thing about having brunch at Louie's is the fact that you can still order from the regular extensive menu.

Brunch is served on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

Eggs Louisianne

Shrimp and crawfish are sauteed with onions in spiced butter and folded into herbed cream sauce. Ladled over a poached egg atop an English muffin.

Eggs Breaux Bridge

Two grilled crawfish and andouille grits cakes cradle gently poached eggs. Topped with shrimp and corn cream sauce.

William the Conqueror

Poached eggs over two scoops of chicken and andouille jambalaya. Topped with shrimp and corn cream sauce.

Classic Eggs Benedict

Grilled sliced ham on English muffin halves, topped with poached eggs. Finished with fresh hollandaise sauce.

You can also build your own brunch with delicious omelets from Louie's menu such as:

• Seafood Louie: Gulf shrimp or Louisiana crawfish sauteed with vegetables in spiced butter with Swiss cheese. Topped with herbed cream sauce.
• The Mitchell: Mushrooms, sausage, hash browns, and Colby cheese.
• The Veggie: A medley of 10 sauteed vegetables. (Add cheese for $1)
• Western: Bacon, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, and Colby cheese.
• Spanish: Hash browns, onions, bell peppers, and garlic with Colby cheese. Topped with homemade salsa.
• Cheese: Swiss, Colby, Jack, and/or cream cheese.
• Build Your Own: Your choice of cheese and ingredients.

Omelets are served with a biscuit, toast, English muffin, or bagel.

Enjoy your brunch with River Road coffee; a Mimosa, Bloody Mary, or Screwdriver cocktail; a cold beer; juice, hot chocolate, chocolate milk, regular milk, tea, lemonade, soda, or fruit smoothie.

Louie's is open 6:30 AM to 2:30 PM, seven days a week.
