    Louisiana Festivals & Events Happening this Weekend: August 24 Through August 27

    It's the last weekend of August, and it's a great time to honor Louisiana's duck hunting heritage as well as the state's food and wine businesses.

    Gueydan Duck Festival - August 24, 25, 26 & 27

    404 Dallas Guidry Road

    First held in November 1977 on blocked-off streets, the Gueydan Duck Festival now happens on its very own grounds. The public can enjoy a Duck and Goose Calling Contest, Decoy Carving, a Duck Dash, Skeet Shooting, and Dog Trials. Great food, nightly bands, Junior and Senior Queens pageants, a grand parade, outdoor and indoor cooking contests, and a thrilling carnival round out a weekend of fun.

    Voted 2022 Festival of the Year by the Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals, the 2023 Gueydan Duck Festival entertainment lineup is as follows:

    Thursday

    • 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM Bubba Hebert & Alfred Doucet
    • 8:30 to 10:00 The Adam Leger Band

    Friday

    • 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM Geno Delafosse & French Rockin'Boogie
    • 8:30 to 10:00 Wayne Toups & Zydecajun
    • 10:30 to 12:00 Swampland Revival

    Saturday

    • 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM Lukas Meaux & Cajun Beat
    • 6:30 to 8:00 The Case Peveto Band
    • 8:30 to 10:00 T. Graham Brown
    • 10:30 to 12:00 Gyth Rigdon

    Sunday

    • 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM The Envies
    • 12:30 PM to 3:00 PM Richard LeBoeuf & Two Step

    The parade will begin Saturday, August 26, at 3:00 PM. It will roll down the main streets of Gueydan.

    Fete Rouge: 16th Annual Food & Wine Fete - L'Auberge Casino, Baton Rouge - August 25th

    The Baton Rouge Epicurean Society's food and wine tasting competition takes place from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Friday, August 25, at L'Auberge Casino. Over 25 restaurants will participate in the 16th Annual Fete Rouge. In addition to great food, more than 200 wines will be available for tasting with the opportunity to purchase your favorites. Music will be provided by DJ Chris 'Bird' Culotta.

    The event benefits childhood nutrition initiatives, educational programs, and scholarships.
