    Fun Ways to Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in Baton Rouge

    Cinco de Mayo is this Sunday.

    On May 5, 1862, Mexico won victory over the French empire at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican War. Often mistaken as Mexico's Independence Day, Cinco de Mayo is one of the most recognized Mexican holidays in the United States. It is deeply ingrained in the US as a commemoration of Mexican culture and heritage. Revelers mark the occasion with parties, parades, mariachi music, Mexican food, and of course, Margaritas.

    Here are a few fun things to do on Cinco de Mayo in Baton Rouge.

    Fuego Social Latin Night

    4520 S. Sherwood Boulevard

    Dance to Salsa, Timba,Bachata, Merengue, and Cumbia inside Jazzercise for a BYOB adult-only event beginning at 8:00 PM on Saturday, May 4 and ending at 2:00 AM on May 5. The dress code is colorful and the party theme is Mexicana.

    Doors open at 8:00 with a Cumbia lesson. Tickets start at $15.

    Cinco de Mayo Party in the ATV Park

    11890 Gibbens Road

    Throw That Dirt ATV Park is the setting for a Cinco de Mayo Party on Sunday May 5, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Bring your tents and chairs, but leave your horses at home, to enjoy music, food, kids' activities, and a bull riding competition. Music will be provided by DJ DREDIDDAT and Seth Pitre & the Zydeco Pressure.

    You don't need an ATV to attend. Waivers are required to enter the park.

    Cinco de Mayo Celebration at Rally Cap Brewing

    11212 Pennywood Drive

    From 12:00 PM ro 8:00 PM on Sunday May 5, Rally Cap Brewing with celebrate Cinco de Mayo with beer and food specialties. Guests can enjoy the brewing company's refeshing Mexican lager, Golden Sombrero, and housemade Micheladas.

    Margarita & Makeover Madness

    522 Europe Street

    On May 3, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, ladies are invited to stop in at Nola Rouge Boutique after work to have fun with their best girlfriend. A special event in honor of Cinco de Mayo will feature Margaritas, vendor pop-ups, and styling sessions.

    Cinco de Mayo Block Party @ Modesto Tacos, Tequila & Whiskey

    3930 Burbank Drive

    Rock the night away with hot tacos and cold Margaritas at Modesto Tacos, Tequila & Whiskey. Music provided by Dustin Lee Guedry.

    Tequila Madness Cinco de Mayo Finale

    336 Third Street

    Celebrate the end of Cinco de Mayo in style with live music, dancing, and tequila at The Basin Music Hall. General admission is $20.
