    Fun Things to Do on July 4 in Baton Rouge

    Independence Day happens on a Thursday this year. Students are out of school and most have the day off from work.

    Here are a few ways to enjoy and celebrate July 4 in Baton Rouge.

    Red, White, and Blue Liberte Tart at La Madeleine

    7615 Jefferson Highway/7707 Bluebonnet Blvd.

    Beginning the day with breakfast at La Madeleine restaurant has its July 4th advantages. The red, white, and blue Liberte Tart is currently available for a limited time. Individual tarts are filled with vanilla pastry cream and topped with glazed blueberries, raspberries, and whipped cream.

    Liberty Lagoon

    111 Lobdell Avenue

    A good way to cool off on our country's birthday can be found at Liberty Lagoon. Water slides, pools, and a lazy river await the whole family. The park is open from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM on July 4.

    General admission is $12 for those over 1 year old.

    Red White & Blues: A 4th of July Fest

    200-238 North Blvd.

    This free festival in Rhorer Plaza begins at 6:00 PM, leading up to the WBRZ Fireworks on the Mississippi. The family-friendly event will feature food vendors and music provided by local blues legend, Chris Leblanc Band.

    Baton Rouge Concert Band 4th of July Concert

    7711 Goodwood Blvd.

    The Baton Rouge Concert Band will perform the works of composers such as Sousa, Martin Gould, and Irving Berlin on the grounds of the Main Library at Goodwood. Free and open to the public, the Fourth of July concert begins at 7:00 PM.

    Fireworks Lawn Party at L'Auberge

    777 L'Auberge Ave.

    L'Auberge Casino and Hotel hosts a family-friendly lawn party with food trucks starting at 7:00 PM. Fireworks begin at 9:00 PM over the Mississippi River. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets to sit on.

    Free admission; all ages are welcome.

    WBRZ Fireworks on the Mississippi

    WBRZ's Fireworks on the Mississippi display can be viewed from either side of the Mississippi River, in Downtown Baton Rouge or in Port Allen. The state's largest fireworks show, this patriotic celebration will be accompanied by a live telecast. The show starts at 9:00 PM.
