Woman gets maximum for providing drugs which killed an Upshur County man
BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — A woman who admitted to providing the drugs which caused an Upshur County man’s overdose death will spend time in prison. Arista Wright, 26, was given the maximum sentence of 15 years when she appeared before Circuit Judge Jacob Reger. Wright pleaded guilty to a charge of delivery with death after the December 2022 overdose death of Troy Cook of Buckhannon.

Franklin County man dies in Montgomery County crash
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of a man killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday night. Saturday, August 3 at around 8 p.m., investigators say, 22-year-old Nathan Cole Jefcoat of Franklin County died at the scene of the crash on Riner Road near the intersection of Broad Shoals Road.
Police: Mingo man charged with attempted murder
A physical altercation that escalated and led to one man being stabbed in the neck has landed another man in jail on an attempted first-degree murder charge, police said. According to the criminal complaint, on July 29, an officer was dispatched to a location at Bias Road in Delbarton regarding a stabbing.
