[PHOTOS] Confirmed Tornado Tears Through Rome NY
Update 6:14pm: Governor Hochul says she has deployed the NYS Police and other agencies to help in Oneida County. As the heat index rose and the potential for storms grew, a tornado has been confirmed in Rome, NY - just north of Utica. Photos from the scene show a church with its roof and steeple torn off, numerous downed trees and power lines, overturned vehicles - even a B-52 bomber on display at the Air Force base was moved by the strong winds.
Yellow Alert has ended: Showers and storms possible tomorrow
The Yellow Alert for our area has expired after a relatively active morning and early afternoon. A low-level disturbance brought another round of severe weather as it moved its way through Western New York. Tornado warnings stayed east of our area, but a few damage reports of downed trees were still reported in Macedon as well as northeastern Wayne County.
