Fire consumes garage, part of home on Valley View Road in Macedonia

Macedonia firefighters battled a garage fire Tuesday morning that spread into an attached home and resulted in the partial collapse of the home and the garage, authorities said.

Fire crews responded to a reported garage fire on the 8300 block of Valley View Road at about 5:26 a.m. When firefighters first arrived at the scene, they discovered the homeowner and his dog were out of the house and uninjured.

The garage roof collapsed shortly after crews began efforts to extinguish the fire. The fire then spread from the garage to the house, consuming the front room.

Part of the ceiling and the roof from the front room eventually collapsed.

There were 18 firefighters on the scene, none of whom were injured. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
