ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) – A 29-year-old Machesney Park woman is headed to prison for a deadly DUI crash that claimed the life of a teen two years ago.

Emily Reid was sentenced Wednesday during a hearing in front of Judge Philip Nicolosi. She was ordered to serve six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for aggravated DUI causing death.

Her sentence stems from a one-car crash that happened on June 14, 2022, on Ventura Boulevard in Machesney Park.

Reid was driving a black Honda Civic when she hit a 25-foot pine tree, taking out several powerlines. A 17-year-old passenger was killed. Another person riding in the car was injured. Reid escaped injury.

Reid was also ordered to be on mandatory supervised release for two years and undergo drug treatment. She must serve 85% of her sentence.
