PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A "career drug dealer" from Western Pennsylvania whose fentanyl supply led to the death of a 5-year-old girl was sentenced to prison time in connection with the incident, the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office said. Albert Spicer, of Cambria County, will serve 13 to 30 years in prison for his latest drug-trafficking offense, which led to the death of 5-year-old Alaia Young in 2022. The attorney general's office said in a news release that the 36-year-old man was sentenced after previously pleading guilty to possession with intent to deliver and other related charges. Flash flood warning issued for part of Pennsylvania until Wednesday night
On Wednesday at 7:18 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning in effect until 11:30 p.m. for Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe and Northampton counties. "At 7:18 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly," says the weather service. "Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage and low-lying areas."

According to the AHA, WellSpan’s safety infrastructure was particularly impressive, with daily huddles used to escalate any potential issues across the organization to ensure decisions regarding patient care could be made quickly and efficiently. The healthcare provider also aimed to create a sense of psychological safety within the organization, so that all team members, including frontline care providers, could feel empowered to share their perspectives and quickly address any safety issues that may arise. This approach led to a significant decrease in serious safety events during care, as well as a significant increase in team members who felt empowered to stop the line and report patient safety events.
