A 69-year-old man from Oak Park, Michigan, found himself in cuffs after a maritime misstep resulted in his boat slamming into a Macomb County Sheriff patrol vessel. The incident took place at the Jefferson Beach Marina on Lake St. Clair on the evening of July 5, as confirmed by the Sheriff's Office. Clinton Township resident arraigned in connection with double shooting
CLINTON TOWNSHIP — A Clinton Township man was arraigned July 9 in connection with a shooting that left one dead and one critically injured. Corey Deyshaun Cook, 24, allegedly shot his mother, Yolanda Cook, 49, and his 27-year-old brother July 5. His mother was pronounced dead at the scene. His brother is currently on life support at a local hospital, according to police and the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office.

MDHHS reports sixth measles case this year
LANSING, Mich. – The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and the Macomb County Health Department (MCHD) are reporting a recently identified case of measles in a Macomb County child – the state’s sixth case to date in 2024. The child was diagnosed on July 3. The child’s exposure to measles is being investigated. There is no known international travel associated with this case.
Suspected drunk boater crashes into Macomb County Marine patrol boat
ST. CLAIR COUNTY, Mich. (CBS DETROIT) - A 69-year-old Michigan man was arrested for allegedly operating a boat while drunk and crashing into a Macomb County Marine patrol boat on Friday.According to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office, Marine Divison patrol boat 4, docked near the Lake St. Clair entrance, was conducting a violation stop on another boat when it was struck by a Sea Ray Cabin Cruiser operated by the Oak Park man.The sheriff's office said the Sea Ray boat entered the marina from the lake and traveled "at a rate greater than slow, no wake speed.""The Sea Ray struck (patrol boat 4) on the port side causing damage to both vessels. The Sea Ray then struck the seawall before coming to rest," the sheriff's office said in a news release.The sheriff's office released body cam footage on social media. You can view the footage below:No injuries were reported and the patrol boat remained in service.Authorities said the man showed signs of intoxication during tests and was arrested for operating under the influence of intoxicating liquor.
