The first theft happened at Envy Auto Group in St. Clair Shores, where the thieves drove a rare $65,000 BMW through the display window last week. MDHHS reports sixth measles case this year, strongly recommends vaccination
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) reported a recently identified case of measles in a Macomb County child – the state’s sixth case to date in 2024. The child was diagnosed on July 3. The child’s exposure to measles is being investigated. There is no known international travel associated with this case. ”Preventing measles is simple – all residents should get vaccinated to prevent this disease,” said Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian, chief medical executive. “Vaccination can prevent illness and provide peace of mind in case you or your family member is exposed. As we get ready for back-to-school season, now is a great time to check with your health care provider to make sure you are current with all your vaccines.” Michigan residents can contact their health care provider or visit their local health department for additional information on ways to obtain the vaccine and schedule an appointment. Children eligible for the Vaccines for Children program may receive the vaccine from a provider enrolled in that program.

Michigan man charged in shooting that killed mother, injured brother
(CBS DETROIT) - A Clinton Township man is charged with killing his mother and injuring his brother in a shooting.Corey Deyshaun Cook, 24, is charged with first-degree premeditated murder, two counts of felony firearm and assault with intent to murder, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office. He was arraigned in 41B District Court and received a $1 million cash/surety bond.Prosecutors said on July 5, 2024, Cook shot 49-year-old Yolanda Cook and his 31-year-old brother in their home. He then went to the Clinton Township Police Department and told officers that he shot two people.Police conducted a welfare check and found Yolanda Cook dead at the scene. The brother was taken to a nearby hospital and is on life support."Our office is committed to seeking justice for the victims and their family. We will ensure that the accused is held fully accountable for this alleged premeditated act of violence," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in a statement.A probable cause hearing is scheduled for July 22.
