Triumph Group business awarded contact to provide auxiliary gearboxes for GE Aerospace

GE Aerospace, an aerospace propulsion, services, and systems company, recently awarded Radnor-based Triumph Group’s Geared Solutions business a contract to provide auxiliary gearboxes.

“TRIUMPH is a market leader in military and commercial gearboxes and has provided GE Aerospace with proprietary and build-to-print solutions across multiple applications for decades,” Pete Gibson, Triumph Geared Solutions Business president, said. “This sole-source award to supply F404 auxiliary gearboxes to the legacy fleet and new aircraft is the latest chapter in a great legacy of our supporting GE Aerospace engine applications.”

The auxiliary gearboxes will be for the F404 afterburning turbofan engine, and work will be performed at Triumph’s facility in Macomb, Mich.

The contract has an option for future use applications including the T7-A, T-50, and TAI Hurjet platforms.

Triumph and GE are engineering and manufacturing partner on military and commercial gearbox applications.

Triumph Geared Solutions designs and manufactures commercial and defense aerospace gearing components as well as integrated gearboxes and housings for aircraft engine, fixed wing, rotorcraft, and ground vehicle applications.

Triumph designs, manufactures, repairs, and overhauls aerospace and defense systems and components for the global aviation industry.

GE Aerospace employs 52,000 people globally, and has an installed base of approximately 44,000 commercial and 26,000 military aircraft engines.
