A second teenage suspect was arrested Sunday in connection to a murder in Macon last year, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators and the sheriff’s gang unit arrested Brian Latrell Colbert Jr., 19, at Dempsey Apartments without incident just before 5 p.m. Sunday, the sheriff’s office said. Colbert was taken to the sheriff’s office investigation unit, then to the Bibb County Jail, where he was held without bond Monday.

Colbert was listed as “wanted” in April, when the sheriff’s office asked for the public’s assistance locating him.

Brian Matthew Brown, 50, was shot and killed just before 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 26, 2023, in the 100 block of Lokchapee Landing. Brown suffered one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene, according to Bibb County Coroner Ronnie Miley.

Colbert faces a murder charge for this incident.

He is also a suspect in connection to another shooting, “where a home was shot at,” on Dec. 7, 2023, in the 1800 block of Cedar Avenue in Macon. Colbert faces four counts of aggravated assault, one count of criminal damage to property and one county of cruelty to children for this incident.

A first suspect, who was 16 years old, was arrested Jan. 31, in connection to the death of Colbert on Lokchapee Landing. The teen from Macon faces a murder charge for this incident.

The 16-year-old also faces three counts of aggravated assault regarding an incident on Jan. 11, in the 3800 block of Tela Place in Macon.

Anyone with information regarding the shooting on Lokchapee Landing was urged by deputies to contact the sheriff’s office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
