New USDA Rural Development State Director from Bunker Hill
The new State Director for USDA Rural Development is on the job. Pam Monetti is from Bunker Hill in Macoupin County. She was in Carterville late last week visiting, Food Works, which received a $168,000 grant to help purchase a food truck to serve as a mobile farmers’ market.
Illinois deputy charged with murder had previous DUI convictions in Macoupin County
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — An Illinois sheriff's deputy charged with the murder of a woman in Springfield has two prior drunk driving charges in Macoupin County. Sean Grayson was charged with the murder of Sonya Massey, 36, who was killed at her home after deputies responded to her 911 call about a possible prowler on July 6.

Open-Public CPR Classes
Macoupin County Public Health Department is hosting Heartsaver and BLS CPR Certification Classes. Everyone is welcome and these classes are open to the public. Heartsaver Classes (General Public) are Tuesday, Sept. 10, and Tuesday, Dec. 10. The BLS Classes (Healthcare Staff) are Thursday, July 18 and Thursday, Oct. 17. The times for classes are 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
