Check out the story of the the Red Ghost Camel said to have roamed the desert in this area with a bleached human skeleton on its back. In 1893 a farmer shot a camel and found that there was an actual human skeleton strapped to its back. Some think a prospector tied himself to the camel and died of thirst. Others say it was a soldier learning to ride and the camel bolted off.
