MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) — For years people in Madison have been asking for more chicken. Now their wish is coming true.

On Monday, Chick-fil-A broke ground on its second location in the rapidly growing city.

“We’re super excited about being able to expand in Madison,” said owner Norman Dull. “We have been so well supported by the community here and we love to be able to give back to the community.”

Ground Breaking Ceremony on Monday celebrates Chick-fil-A’s second location in Madison.

The new restaurant will sit right off Exit 9 on I-565; a short distance from the heart of Town Madison. Dull says the new location will complement the growth and attraction of the area.

“The city of Madison has needed a second Chick-fil-A for a long time. We feel like this is going to be a great spot to capture the growth at Town Madison as well as the growth that comes from 565 into the city.”

For owner Norman Dull, this is his second Chick-fil-A groundbreaking in Madison. He helped bring the first to the area 25 years ago on US Highway 72. Dull opened the restaurant in 1999 but his connection to the franchise goes much deeper.

“I’m a lifer. Chick-fil-A has been in my blood for a long time. I started as a high school student with Chick-fil-A. I’ve been with Chick-fil-A for 40 years now, 30 of those as an owner, or operator. It means the world to me.”

When it comes to business, it’s a family affair for the Dulls. Norman’s son, Matthiew serves as the Hospitality Director for the restaurant. He too has an extensive history with the company.

“I started when I was 15. It has been my only job and it has been the best job I’ve ever had I love working with family. I love being able to work for a company that cares so much and to be able to see how they take care of my father, have taken care of our family, have taken care of everybody and it has made me so excited to work for this company and eventually start my own family.”

Weather permitting, Dull expects the new location to start serving up chicken in December.
