MADISON, Ala. (WHNT) – After serving two tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, flooding and sewer issues have ruined the return home for army veteran Raymond Sanchez, and his wife Ciera.

The couple reached out to News 19 saying the property manager, Pathlight Property Management, had ignored their pleas to make repairs that have plagued the home.

Issues with the HVAC system, water leaks and raw sewage are so bad that they say their young children can’t play in the yard.

“The problems started not even a month after moving into this house,” Raymond Sanchez explained.

Soon after our story aired discussing those issues , Pathlight contacted the Sanchez family with a resolution. The company agreed to terminate the rental agreement, reimburse the Sanchez’ for 3 months’ rent and pay for the moving expenses.

“I would like for this company to publicly acknowledge what exactly they put my family through,” said Sanchez.”

While acknowledging their irresponsibility, Pathlight Property Management sent a statement to News 19 that reads:

“Pathlight Property Management takes pride in serving our residents’ needs and is committed to providing an exceptional experience for every resident. Pathlight Property Management takes pride in serving our residents’ needs and is committed to providing an exceptional experience for every resident. “The Sanchez family’s experience did not reflect this, and we clearly fell short of the high standards to which we hold ourselves.

Our team is working with Mr. Sanchez to expedite solutions to the issues identified and determine how we can best support him and his family.”

Raymond Sanchez is thankful that something is finally being done.

“I just want to really say thank you to News 19 for really bringing this story to light. I think you guys are my saving grace and I would like for this story to reach throughout the whole United States,” said Sanchez.

Sanchez and his family will be moving into their new home in the coming days, and he says he doesn’t want anyone to have to go through what he and his family faced over the past 10 months.

“For me and my family to fall victim to this for this long, and for them to try and explain to me that there was a lack of communication is just wrong,” Sanchez said.
