HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The excessive heat and humidity isn’t going anywhere Friday for many of us across North Alabama.

Heat index values on Wednesday and Thursday ranged from 100 to nearly 110 degrees due to the oppressive humidity.

With the threat of excessive heat again Friday, the National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory for parts of North Alabama from 11 am to 7 pm. The advisory includes Colbert, Cullman, Franklin, Lawrence, Lauderdale, Madison, Marshall, and Morgan counties.

An advisory is issued when high temperatures are forecast to range from 100 to 104 degrees or the heat index values are 105 to 109 degrees for two consecutive hours or longer.

Plenty of moisture at the surface dew points are going well into the 70s again, making it feel very tropical. The hot and humid air mass in place will support heat index values ranging from 100 to 109 degrees on Friday.

Whether you are under the advisory or not it will be important to practice heat safety again Friday if you plan to spend time outside. Make sure you are staying hydrated, wearing light-colored clothing, and taking frequent breaks.
