Appalachian Regional Commission Funds $1M to Replace Aldrige Creek Bridge in Alabama
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Alabama Governor Kay Ivey announced funds from the Appalachian Regional Commission will go toward upgrading the Madison County rail system. The Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs (ADECA) announced the funds will go toward replacing the Aldrige Creek bridge, located along Huntsville and Madison County Railroad Authority’s 13.3-mile route near the Tennessee River. A new concrete bridge will replace the existing wooden bridge to bolster rail safety and allow train cars to carry heavier loads.
