UF/IFAS 4-H and CareerSource teach students about finances

CareerSource North Florida Summer Youth Education Program partnered with the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension Hamilton County 4-H and Family and Consumer Science (FCS) to host a "Living on My Own" program for 4-H students on Tuesday, June 11. "The program immerses students in a simulated environment where they must navigate the financial responsibilities of adult life," UF/IFAS Suwannee Extension FCS agent, Kim Griff.
Local man barely escapes car accident with life

While driving on County Road 249 in Suwannee County, the 19-year-old Live Oak resident began hyrdoplaning. The incident took him off of the road and ended in his vehicle being totaled. Quincy was taken to the hospital with severe injuries. Thankfully, Quincy survived, and he is now home safe with his family. “Johnathan is such a good kid. He is always respectful to others, a hard worker and our first born,” said Kelli Quincy, Johnathan's mother. “We are just thankful and blessed to have him with us still. Water Street upgrade should begin soon

On Tuesday, June 11, the Monticello City Council approved a resolution acknowledging the receipt of increased funding from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for the repaving of the street, which runs from U.S. 90 on the north to U.S. 19 on the southeast. The additional funding amounted to $102,421, bringing the total awarded for the project to $334,598, up from the $232,176 that was initially awarded to the city.
