Virginia Department of Corrections unveils new inmate literacy program to reduce recidivism
The program, which will be self-paced and taught by certified inmate tutors, will allow inmates to learn to read with the goal of transitioning into a GED program. Kenis Maciel is in his 4th year as head coach of the Ospeys. Last season, SMLCA had their best season ever as they went 9-1 in 2023. In fact next school year, Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy will become a member of the Virginia High School League. The football program has grown over the years as they look for a strong 2024 season.
