Borough of Madison is Hiring a Special Law Enforcement Officer

MADISON, NJ - The Borough of Madison  is accepting applications for the position of Special Law Enforcement Officer Class III (SLEO Class III) to perform safety and security duties at the Borough of Madison Public Schools beginning with the 2024-2025 school year.

This is an annual appointment.

Candidate must be a retired law enforcement officer less than 65 years of age and who upon reappointment must still be under 65 years old.

Candidates must have served as a duly qualified, fully trained, full-time officer in any municipality or county of this State or a member of the New Jersey State Police and were separated from that prior service in good standing within three (3) years of appointment to this position.

Candidate must be physically capable of performing the functions of the position determined in accordance with the Police Training Academy.

Candidate must possess an NJ Police Training Commission Basic Police Officer Certification that must be successfully completed within 12 months of appointment or NJ State Police Academy Certification.

Candidate must reside in New Jersey and possess a valid NJ Driver’s License.

Candidate must successfully pass a background investigation including a medical exam, drug screen, and psychological exam.

This position follows the school calendar year and provides no benefits for health, dental, or prescription.

The salary is $37 per hour.

Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and able to provide proof.

The ability to speak and understand Spanish is a plus.
