    MADISON, NJ- During Monday's council meeting, committee members gave updates on what to know and what's coming up:

    Tax bills were mailed out July 17. If you have not received your tax bill, you can call the tax collector’s office at 973-593-3056 to request a copy.

    The Madison Farm & Artisan Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Prospect Street parking lot. You can find more information about the weekly market here.

    What’s coming up:

    Aug. 6: National Night Out will be held from 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Waverly Place. The event seeks to strengthen police-community relationships and will offer free food and activities.

    Aug. 12: The third quarter tax grace period ends. Payments received after this will be charged interest back to the due date of Aug. 1.

    Oct. 3: The annual tax sale will occur. On this date, any property owner with unpaid 2023 taxes on their property or utilities will have a lien placed on their property. Warnings were sent out last week.

    Five ordinances were unanimously passed, one of which will provide $900,000 of funding for the MRC Solar Carport Project . The solar carport will be located at the Madison Recreation Complex and could potentially provide energy for 50 - 85 homes and save the borough an estimated $88,000 a year on electric bills.

    Two new ordinances were also introduced, one of which concerned a redevelopment plan regarding property the mayor called “Giralda 1”, or the office space facing Madison Ave. The ordinance will be reviewed by the planning board.

    In addition, 11 resolutions were unanimously adopted. One resolution approved the 39th annual Giralda Farms run Nov. 10, while another granted Turn the Towns Teal , a national campaign aimed at spreading awareness of ovarian cancer, permission to tie teal ribbons around trees along the streets of Madison throughout September.
