MADISON – The Wisconsin women’s basketball team rounded out its roster for the upcoming season with a point guard.

On Wednesday, coach Marisa Moseley announced the signing of Alba Martin Mesa, a 5-foot-6 freshman point guard from Spain. She comes to UW from SPAR Gran Canaria, where she averaged 14 points, six assists and three steals per game last season.

"A native of the Canary Islands, Alba Martín Mesa comes to Madison having represented her country at every level from the age of 12," Moseley said in a news release. "A floor general and skilled passer, Alba will be a great addition to our backcourt. I am excited to have another player with vision and play making abilities to help take our program to the next level."

The addition of Martin Mesa pushed the Bad.gers roster to 14 players, the same as last season. Four of those players are freshmen. The other three are: Gracie Grzesk, a 5-11 guard from Green Bay Notre Dame; Alie Bisballe, a 6-4 forward from Lake City Michigan; and Reese Jaramillo, a 5-8 guard from The Prairie School, who is a walk-on.
