MADISON, Wis. -- Downtown Madison was filled with hundreds of thousands of people for two different art fairs Saturday.

The 66th annual Art Fair On the Square is a fundraiser for the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA) and showcases artists from around the globe.

"We have over 450 artists coming from across the country," Andrew Rogers, MMoCA Director of Communications said. ""This is the largest fundraiser for the museum."

The 45th annual Art Fair Off the Square is put on by the Wisconsin Alliance of Artists and Craftspeople and is solely Wisconsin artists.

"Wisconsin artists wanted a place that just showcased the talent for our state and thus art fair off the square was born," Danielle Brown, the Art Fair Off the Square on-site coordinator said.

Art Fair On the Square is about four times the size of the other, spanning the eight blocks around the capitol whereas Art fair off the square is on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.

Artists from both On and Off said having multiple events is beneficial to the artists.

"It's just really cool to see everybody in Madison getting excited about original art," Rachel Christopoulos, a featured artists from Art Fair Off the Square.

Both events will also happen in their respective locations on Sunday.
