MONONA, Wis. -- A Madison man was arrested Friday after he allegedly ran from officers after a vehicle stop.

Monona Police Chief Brian Chaney said officers conducted a traffic stop at E/B Highway 12 at Stoughton Road. Chaney said as the driver and passenger were being detained, the man allegedly took off running prior to being handcuffed.

The man reportedly ran northbound across all lanes of the Beltline before climbing a fence into an area along E. Broadway near Dutch Mill Road.

Officers located the man hiding on the roof of a one-story business. An officer reportedly climbed the roof and allegedly confronted him at gunpoint.

Chaney said after a short dialogue, the man allegedly leapt from the building onto the ground below. Officers found the man reportedly hiding next to a home in the 4800 block of Dutch Mill Road. He was taken into custody.

Inside the vehicle, officers reportedly found a loaded firearm, 31.7 grams of cocaine and a scale belonging to the man.

He was arrested on a probation violation and felony possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, carrying a concealed weapon, and resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

The man was booked into Dane County Jail.
