MADISON, Wis. — A fire Friday evening destroyed a shed, barn, and farming equipment at an agricultural research station used by UW-Madison on the city's far west side.

The fire was reported at 6:23 p.m. at the West Madison Agricultural Research Station at 8502 Mineral Point Road. That facility is used by UW-Madison's College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.

The fire briefly forced authorities to shut down Mineral Point Road between South Junction and South Pleasant View roads as firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.

    No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is unknown, but foul play is not suspected at this time.

More updates will be shared as they become available.
