DNR accepting nominations for Recycling Excellence Awards

MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announced Thursday it is accepting nominations for the "Recycling Excellence Awards."

The DNR said the awards showcase outstanding recycling efforts, innovation, and performance for communities, non-profits, schools, and businesses throughout Wisconsin. Awards are offered in four separate categories. Food waste recovery or diversion programs are also eligible.

When filling out a nomination form, the DNR said entries can self-nominate or submit an application on behalf of another program. The nomination should include supporting materials, such as outreach samples, data or graphs, and high-resolution photos. Programs may be awarded on their overall programs, projects and initiatives, innovation, or special events.

The DNR said past winners have provided new collection and cleanup services for their communities, implemented waste reduction practices within their organization, and diverted large amounts of compostable and recyclable materials.

The nomination form, along with information about the categories and past award winners, can be found on the DNR's website . Winners will be featured on the website and the DNR's social media accounts.
