    Lane closures on King, Wilson, Butler St.

    MADISON, Wis. -- The City of Madison announced Thursday the King St., Wilson St., and Butler St. intersection will be closed starting Friday, July 26 due to underground utility work.

    The City said the company R.G. Houston will be conducting underground construction beneath the intersection. In this phase of work, all traffic will be shifted to the south side of Wilson St., with one lane of traffic open in each direction. Outbound Butler St. and inbound King St. will be closed during this phase.

    For detours, the City said inbound vehicles on Wilson St. wanting to use Butler St. should use Wilson St. to Pinckney St. to Doty St. to Webster St. to Main St. Inbound vehicles on Wilson St. wanting to use King St. should use Wilson St. to Pinckney St. to Doty St.

    The City said the contractor may close inbound and outbound Butler St. at the same time. During those times, the contractor will place barricades at the Butler St. and Main St. intersection to warn of a detour.

    The City said the closures may be in place for two to three weeks as the underground utility work progresses. More information about the street reconstruction can be found on the City's website .
