Restaurant, dance club and arcade bar coming to State Street
7 hours ago
Dinner, drinks and dancing — the bottom level of oLiv will offer a trifecta of experiences with three new businesses.
The Harmonic Hospitality Group plans to open a restaurant (The Stuffed Olive), an '80s-to-'00s-themed dance club (Roxxy) and an arcade bar (Double Tap Beercade) on the 300 block of State Street within oLiv — a student housing building located near the University of Wisconsin–Madison campus.
The Stuffed Olive and Double Tap will open to the public on July 27. Roxxy will open Aug. 12. Here’s what you need to know about these three new spots.
The Stuffed Olive
The Stuffed Olive is bringing “sophisticated” dining to this oLiv lineup.
Founded in 2004 inside the Blackhawk Hotel in Cedar Falls, Iowa, The Stuffed Olive originally started as a martini bar but added tapas to the menu in 2005 as the martini menu continued to grow. The now expansive “shareables” and flatbread menu features sweet potato waffle fries, steak skewers, Thai chicken flatbread and coconut shrimp.
The Stuffed Olive has over 100 martinis on the menu, which are sorted into three categories: traditional, dessert and specialty.
The traditional martinis menu consists of your standards: classic, dirty and naked. The specialty martinis menu includes espresso martinis, margatinis and Cosmopolitans.
Some dessert martinis include the Chocolate Birthday Cake martini featuring cake vodka, chocolate liqueur, creme de cacao, chocolate syrup and cream with a rainbow sprinkle rim.
It's not just martinis — The Stuffed Olive also offers an assortment of cocktails, wines, beers and mocktails.
Roxxy
Live music, DJs and trivia are just a few things Roxxy, a new dance club, brings to the Madison nightlife scene.
The inside of Roxxy looks like a time capsule — the vintage decor reflects music from past decades via vinyls, cassette tapes and framed art incorporated into the space from the 1980s to the 2000s.
Roxxy’s menu features a lineup of bar-and-grill-style favorites including chicken tenders, cheese curds, chicken wings, burgers and fried pickles. The “hit singles” section of the menu includes a few flatbread options, a nacho platter and loaded tater tots.
The cocktail menu has pop culture-inspired drinks including a Prince-inspired Purple Rain drink; the Breakfast Club, named after the 1985 cult-classic film; and the Material Girl, an ode to Madonna.
Double Tap Beercade
At Double Tap Beercade, patrons can play a swath of arcade games while indulging in “game elixirs” — video-game inspired cocktails.
The cocktail menu includes the spiced rum-based Ms Pac-Man as well as some fruitier options like the Health Potion and the Ender Dragon Punch. Patrons can also order a lineup of shots including the 1Up and Kirby’s Dream Potion as well as some mocktail options like the Power-Up Punch and Boss Rush Brew.
Beercade-goers can take their pick from a mix of vintage and modern arcade games. Double Tap will feature some classics like “Super Mario Bros,” “Pac-Man,” “Tetris” and “Mortal Kombat” and some newer arcade models like “Guitar Hero Arcade” and “Mario Kart Arcade GP.” Double Tap will also have a handful of pinball machines in addition to arcade games.
