MADISON – Marisa Moseley continues to push the borders of her program.

For the second time this summer and third time in two seasons, the Wisconsin women’s basketball coach signed an international player. Jovana Spasovski, a 6-foot wing from Belgrade, Serbia, is the latest player to join the fold.

Spasovski played last season with Akson Ilirija, a club team in Slovenia. In 23 games she averaged 9.5 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.2 steals and one assist per game while playing 22.4 minutes per contest. She shot 45.3% from the floor and 78.9% from the free-throw line.

Spasovski also represented her country at the U20 Women’s European Championship last summer. She averaged 8.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game and helped the team finish fourth.

“Jovana is a three-level scorer whose versatility will fit perfectly into our system,” Moseley said in a press release. “She is a fierce competitor and has an incredible will to win! Her unselfish demeanor on and off the court is the epitome of what we look for in our players.”

Spasovski’s signing comes one month after UW announced the addition of Alba Martin Mesa , a point guard from Spain. Last year UW signed Ana Guillen, a forward from Spain who transferred to Yale after the season.

Spasovski is the fifth member of Wisconsin’s freshman class. She is joined by Martin Mesa, 6-4 forward Alie Bisballe, Gracie Grzesk, a 5-11 forward from Green Bay Notre Dame High School, and Reese Jaramillo, a 5-8 guard from The Prairie School just outside of Racine.
