Badger volleyball ranks second in Big Ten preseason poll, 3 players make All-Conference team

MADISON, Wis. -- It's a new era for Big Ten volleyball, with four new teams joining the conference. However, one thing that hasn't changed is that Wisconsin volleyball remains among the best in the business.

The Badgers came in at No. 2 in the Big Ten preseason poll, which was released Thursday. The only team ahead of them is reigning conference champion Nebraska.

Wisconsin is coming off a strong 2023 season that saw them lose only 4 games. However, the season ended with a brutal loss to Texas in the NCAA Tournament semifinals that the Badgers will be looking to avenge.

Kelly Sheffield's squad is rich with talent, including 2023 AVCA National Player of the Year Sarah Franklin. Franklin, Carter Booth and Anna Smrek were named to the Big Ten's preseason All-Conference team on Thursday.
