MADISON, Wis. -- The Dane County Department of Human Services announced Friday $50,000 in grant awards to community organizations that promote community inclusion and social integration for people with developmental disabilities.

The DHS said the grants emphasize rural communities, nature-based activities, gardening, dancing, and self-care. Grant recipients focus on community integration and social inclusion for individuals with developmental disabilities living in Dane County, as well as encourage social interactions and community engagement between people with and without developmental disabilities.

The DHS said several organizations that promote sensory-friendly and disability-inclusive events received the grants, including Three Gaits, Children's Theatre Madison, Heartland Farm Sanctuary, and more. The grants are an estate gift in honor of Meredith Bradley, a recipient of Dane County community-based supports.
